On April 18,2007 I donated my hair. I've been growing it for 3 yrs now. I have a cousin at the age of 2 that was diagnosed with Lukemea, 2 little girls in my area were diagnosed with cancer. This was something I told mom I wanted to do in support of all the children and people that have cancer. So today I say good bye to my Ponytail. Taylor

I have a seventeen month old little girl fighting cancer and it has inspired one of her cousins to cut off her long pretty dark hair and donate it to angel hair. At such a young age she made this decision herself. Her name is Samantha and she lives in Labrador. I only wish I could give her a medal for what she has done, and maybe she'll inspire someone else to do the same. Thanks Samantha.

I am 13 years old and I just cut my hair today, the ponytail will soon be on its way, I hope it helps make a nice wig! There goes 11" of hair! I love my new hair cut. I grew my hair for two years to be cut and it was worth it. I hope it makes someone really happy. =) One of my closest friends had cancer a few years ago and I know a little girl that has just had chemotherapy last week, I really wanted to do something to help. I want to grow my hair out and cut it again, my hair grows fast so I might even donate three times!

I am 13 years old and have donated 11 inches of my thick (very thick) hair to A Child's Voice Foundation because I believe it is a good cause. What encouraged me to do so was that I have just lost a Grandmother and cousin from cancer, and were in need of wigs. It was very incouraging to hear that other people in the comunity were donating their hair as well. I have many of them come to me for advice on where to donate to, and I definatly suggested Angel Hair for kids, because of all the great instructions for first time donators, and great certificate after. thanx!

Hi my name is Rebecca I am 12 years old from Newmarket, Ontario and I have just cut my long blonde hair on March 9th, and I am sending 17 inches to a Childs Voice Foundation. This is my second time donating. The first time I cut my hair off I donated 12 inches in March 2004. I cut my hair because I think it is a nice thing to do after what kids have been going though. My hair grows really fast so it is easy for me to donate it. Even though it might be a pain growing long hair and getting up in the morning with so many knots you cry and scream trying to get them out but I survived and its for a good cause.I also heard that it takes 12 donations of hair to make a hand sewen wig for a child and cost approximately $1,200 according to the Canadian Cancer Society WOW! I might grow my hair agian! My next goal is to donate 20inches of hair!

I recently decided to donate my hair to Angel Hair for Kids, and was able to cut off 13.5" I believe it was, for this wonderful foundation. All that's left for me to do is print the form and send my hair off. I've been trying to entice my step-daughter to do the same, but she's too fond of her long hair to give it up just yet, hah! :)

Hi ! I'm a VERY proud Mom of a special young lady...tomorrow, my daughter Mikaela is going to have her hair cut to donate to your cause. She has been growing her hair for 19 months...since I had my head shaved for cancer research funding. She didn't think she could shave her head...and I don't think I want her to be that drastic, but this is something she CAN do to brighten the live of another special child. We have experienced cancer through the loss of Mikaela's Nanny and know first hand how scarry & painful it can be. So we want to do our part. God bless each of you ! ! !

For the past few years I have been thinkin about donatin my hair but I have never taken it into serious consideration until a few months back I saw a girl in the local paper who had donated her hair and I realized what an amazing thing it is and so I got my hair chopped off. When I came back from christmas break and my long blond hair was short and above my shoulders I got some strange looks but I love my new hair and I feel great about myself. Jordyn<3

I'm just glad I found your foundation because I had just about given up hope of finding somewhere to send my hair. i'm sending it tomorrow and a can't wait to do this again when my hair grows again. Dear Angel Hair For Kids, I think its great that there are so many orginizations out there to help children that need hair. When I heard about it, I decided that I would too donate my hair to one of those orginizations. Unfortunatly, I couldn't wait to let it grow any longer (because my mom talked me into cutting it), but i still managed to get a good 12 inches from it and I am now sending it to Angel Hair for Kids. I wish more people knew about this and did generouse things like this. Hair grows back...except if you have cancer. Thank you Angel Hair for Kids for creating such a wonderful orginization for a good cause, and keep up the good work! Everyone else who are reading...think about donating hair. Put yourself in a child's position. If you had no hair. Then an orginization gave you a wig, and you knew they were donations from generous people. Wouldn't you be thrilled that no one would stare at you anymore, and you weren't afraid to go out anywhere anymore, because of about 10 children who thought of you and cared. You would be very happy, wouldn't you? Keep up the good work! Elena* Kazakevic

Hi i am 11 years old, live in Keswick, Ontario and have never had my hair cut, only trimmed to keep it healthy.I thought about donating my hair for a long time. I finally decided to do it so that i could help someone else that doesn't have hair because of cancer, burns and other diseases. God blessed me with long blond hair and it was hard for me to do, but today January 5, 2007, my hairdresser, Antonella, cut 14 inches off my hair. I felt happy that I was going to give my hair for a good reason but i was also scared because I loved my long hair. Afterwards, I really like my new haircut and guess what?, it will grow back! maybe I will do it again someday. Thanks Angel Hair for doing this for the kids.

I am from Ontario, Canada and almost 2 years ago i cut 10 inches of my hair off and donated it to Angel Hair For Kids. I cut it at my hockey banquet while everyone was watching. It was a very emotional time for everyone because me dad had recently been diagnosed with skin cancer. We live in a very small community and everyone was very upset by the recent news. Within the community I also raised over $6000 dollars for the Canadian Cancer Society. They use that money to help unfortunate families help pay for chemotherapy treaments and transportation to the Hospital. With this experience, i have had a tremendous amount of happiness and self-worth. I know that I have helped children that have not had the exact life i've had. Therefore, I owe it to other children to try to make thier life as happy and carelesss as it should be when young. I hope that more people decide to donate hair because it is a wonderful feeling knowing that you are helping another human being. Peace and Love. Nicole

My whole childhood I had long dark wavy hair. I chopped it off once during elementary school to go on a canoo trip and vowed to myself that I would never do that again. Since then, I've kept my hair about mid to low back length. A couple years back, I wanted to see just how long I could let it grow. Over the past few years, friends of mine have cut off their hair and donated it to make wigs. I thought about it, and even though I absolutely loved my hair with it's beautifully long length, I realized how blessed I was to have it and wanted to share that feeling of appreciation with someone else. So as it reached the point where I was almost sitting on it, I decided to chop it off above my shoulders (the shortest it's ever been in my entire life). In the salon, I allowed myself to realize that my beautiful long hair was going to be gone in a matter of minutes. But then I quickly reminded myself of why I was chopping it off. Immediately, my heart was filled with joy, someone else can now enjoy this :o) Blessings and prosperity to you! Lidia

Thank you for your awesome website! I lost my Mom 12 yrs ago to throat cancer and my uncle (her brother) several yrs before. There were many I knew who dies because of cancer. I honestly believe a cure can be found within each one who will give from their heart. Thank you to everyone on here who is part of this worthy cause for needy kids with a wish to have hair. I now am sporting a much much shorter 'do, but I am looking forward to when it is long enough to donate again. As I sat in the hairdresser's chair, I pictured a smile on a child's face as they got a new head of hair. Such a simple good deed will make a huge difference to someone else.

I just couldn't imagine being without hair especially being so attached to my own 28". I made the decision in Spring of 2006 to give the "gift of Hair" and shaved it all off in one long piecetied with pink ribbons..All of it and proudly donated to 'angel hair for kids'. Now three months later I am sporting 2" towards a 'New Crop'.

I’m 20 years old, and for quite some time I’ve been growing my hair and thinking of donating it to a worthy cause. I have thick, long curly hair and thought that a child who has gone though a difficult, life altering experience could use and appreciate it more then I could. Many people have asked me why I’m donating my hair, and to be honest I just want to help a child through their difficult recovery stages. I have been fortunate enough for cancer not to affect anyone close to me, but aware enough to acknowledge the struggles many families with children who have Cancer endure everyday. I am proud to be able to contribute my hair to a Canadian association so keep an eye out for my 13 inches of hair that’s on it way to bring a smile upon a child’s face.

So, we've had some discussions about the cut and I've explained why its so important that people give what they can to help others. My 4 1/2 year old is very excited for the process. She said " mine will grow back again mommy", Because I was the one who cut her bum long hair she has had since birth.

We are 5 year old twin sisters and our Mom just cut 10 inches of hair off us each and we wanted to donate it to kids with cancer as we have lost our great grandpa to cancer and our great aunt has beat breast cancer twice we are now growing our hair again just for it to be cut off again for kids who need it .

My two girls aged 8 & 7 (Brittney & Madison) decided to donate their hair last year. Although they knew it would be a long process of growing enough to donate (and many tangles) they said it would be worth it. So now since their hair was long enough I am sitting here in front of my computer looking at the two locks of hair just recently cut from my two young daughters; I am overcome with pride as I place the locks in the envelope to send to Angel Hair. I am touched by my little girls dedication and unselfishness and honoured to be able to help another child during the hardest time of their young life. Thank you Angel Hair. Trudy

I am sitting here at my computer at 5:30 a.m. because today I get my hair cut to donate it to some beautiful child who needs a wig to give a positive lift to his or her self esteem. I have been growing my hair for the past two years just for that purpose. I am a 69 year old great-grandmother of two beautiful great-grandaughters and I know what it will mean to them to know that "gramma" helped another child to be as beautiful as they are. When they are a little older, I will be encouraging to do the same. In the meantime, I challenge all the "seniors" here in Canada to please donate that beautiful long hair of yours, to a child who really needs it. Children have been my life and I will alwaus do my best to help as many as I can for as long as God will let me. (Bye he way, I am still a natural blonde, which also helps the cause too I believe, so in another two years, I will be doing this again.)

Hi, I just donated 10 inches of my hair to Angel Hair for Kids. When people comment on my new short hair it feel so good to say that I've donated it to young children with cancer. I'v lost two cousins to cancer, ages 13 and 6. If you have hair, why not share it!

Hello, my name is Vanessa. I am 17 years old and I have just cut 12 inches of my hair, it was a shock having short hair. However, I know that a child will need it and appreciate it more then I ever could, and if it makes just a slight difference in their day and puts a smile on their face, it will be worth every minute it took for it to grow and every bit of courage it took to cut it off. Both of my grandfathers have passed due to cancer, it is a horrible illness that affects so many. I’m glad to help some of these children feel better about themselves and help them get through times that are a million times harder then we could ever imagine. These children are stronger then all of us put together. So in Honour & in Memory of all the people that have had cancer and for all the people that will fight this battle... Bless you. Angel Hair for Kids you are doing an amazing thing.

This is a great site, I am a Hair Stylist, and now have had 2 people come to my Salon to donate their hair to this cause. It is very important that people always know that hair, for us Healthy people, grow back, but for some of these little people, they just truly have a harder time than all of us would ever come to knowing. A donation of Hair Locks is a great thing, and I hope more people come to realize how they will brighten someone's day by donation....It is great to see!! I have had family members with cancer as well, and loss their hair, it is such a hard thing for them to handle, so I hope to see more in my Salon to donate. You all do a great job with this site, Hearts of GOLD!!!!

I never have really liked having short hair, but I have wanted to donate my hair for a while now. But I got thinking to myself, that people who have cancer and loose their hair just want to have hair again! So I said to myself that it doesn't matter what I look like with short hair because these people would love to have hair! It made me feel so good to donate it! I am now growing it out and am going to do it again!! (I just donated 10" this past weekend!!) Its an amazing program and I would reccomend this experience to anyone!!! I think everyone out there has been affected by cancer somehow. My Aunti, Great Uncle, and friends of my family have all had cancer and passed away. I donated my hair in memory of all of them! Its so sad to see how cancer takes peoples lives. May God bless all of the people out there who are suffering from Cancer. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

2 years ago I donated half a metre of hair I did this because I had a best friend, that was only 13 when she died, battling cancer. She unfortunately died on Canada day that same year. This year i donated a foot of hair in honour of my uncle that had died of cancer. i have been so blessed to have hair and it makes me feel good when i realize that i can give another kid that same feeling.

When my mom was only sixteen my grandfather passed away because of lung cancer. I never got to meet him and nor did any other of my siblings. This year my other grandfather passed away because cancer had spread into a lot of places in his body. At first I had heard this from someone and Ithought I would never cut my long hair, but then my hair became too long and too frustrating for me to handle( and after both my grandfathers dying because of cancer I started thinking about what I could do and my hair being long was a good thing because it answered my question) So I started looking for a place to donate it and let me tell you it wasn't easy!!! Now that I have found a place to donate my hair I hope I can make a difference in someones life, I know if it were me or one of my sisters or my mom I would really like it if someone helped that way.

My Daughter, Goldie age 4 1/2, has (had) long blonde hair past her waist. We fought everyday with brushing and styling so we decided to cut her hair but for a good cause. I showed her how much 10 inches was and that her hair would still be to her shoulders, she said "I want some little girl to have my long beautiful long hair, cut more" Goldie is thrilled to have the weight off her shoulders and to be able to give a special gift. This has been a great experience for her first hair cut.

Hi, my name is Samantha. I am 9 years old and I have long blonde hair. In August, I am going to have it cut and then donate it to Angel Hair for Kids. I really hope my hair helps a little girl feel better while she is recovering from cancer. My Opa passed away from cancer this year so I know what a terrible illness it is. I also hope to raise money to send along with my hair donation because Angel Hair for Kids ROCKS!! :) :)

My daughter Bethany, 11, had been asking for a long time to donate her hair to help a child suffering hair loss from cancer treatment. In March 2006 she donated 14 inches of blond hair to help a child feel better. Her hockey teammate, Meagan, also donated her long blond hair and they are both very proud. HeadQuarters Hair Solutions Clinic in Halifax received the hair donations and forwarded them to a local family who make wigs for children. Thank you to the HeadQuarter's staff for their assistance with this project.

Today my 8 year old daughter Micaela had 12 inches of her hair cut off. This idea came from Micaela and her dad. A very close family friend recently lost his battle with cancer, and I think he would be extremely proud of her as are we! I am sure another child sure will enjoy having this hair as their very own! I am very proud of her. I will be ordering her a tshirt in hopes other children will do the same. I am sure once it is brought to the public more, it will be an even bigger success.

One time at a Tim Hortons we met a woman wife beautiful long brown hair. It almost reached her lower back. When we commented on how beautiful it was she told us how it was going to be cut for Locks of Love. Months later my then 5 year old daughter Holly found an old wig in her Great Nini's closest. We explained that when she had had cancer she has lost all of her hair and that was the wig that was given to her. One day soon afterward, Holly came to me and asked if she could grow her hair and donate it to Locks of Love. I agreed and for two years she grew it out. When it came time to donate it I went on the internet and found out that we could donate the hair to a Canadian organization called Angel Hair for Kids. She donated her hair at the age of 7 and by weeks end had convinced me to let her do it again. Since then she has also convinced me to continue to grow my hair and donate it together this time. We measured this morning and Holly has another 12 inches and I have 14 inches to donate. By the way, when she donated her hair at the age of 7, her school principal found out why she had cut her hair and asked that she speak at the next school assembly as to the reason. From that assembly we have since had 8 other school mates donate to Angel Hair for Kids. Even a boy!! Our goal is to continue to donate and speak to others about donating until we have reached a goal of 15 donations. I have never been more proud of my little girl!

I am 11 years old and I have thought to myself this year I want to help others instead of just laying around watching Tv. I asked my Mom if she would cut my hair and she did at that moment I was so proud of myself. I thought okay my hair would fall out if I had cancer I would'nt want people laughing at me seeing me hairless. So now I have short hair people laugh at me but now SO WHAT!!!!!

My 11 year old daughter Rachel is having 11 inches of her beautiful and healthy hair cut tomorrow. I am very proud of her for wanting to make this donation. Although our lives haven't been directly affected by Cancer, Rachel has a really kind heart and would do anything to help out another child.

I am 9 years old and have thought so much about the people less fortunate than me. I have decided that even though I hate short hair! at least I can grow mine back but for other kids they have to wait a long time before they can have hair again. I started growing my hair at 7 so I can cut my hair at 9 (or 10) and I will do it again as I get older, I hope I can convince other people to do this too. Next year I will be doing my Grade 5 speech on this subject so that people will become more aware of this program.

My Daughter Alex has been patiently growing her hair for the past two and a half years just so she can donate it to Angel Hair for Kids, she is almost at her goal length of 11 inches. Alex is the most compassionate and caring 9 year old I have ever met and I am so proud to say she is my Daughter.

I am 9 years old and on Saturday I got 11 inch's cut off my hair to donate to Angel Hair for Kids. I hope my hair makes another child very happy. My cousin donated some of her hair to the Cancer Society as well. Maybe by next spring my hair will be long enough to make another donation. goodbye
